🧾 Synopsis

Eager to contribute to the renewable energy sector, I embraced a contract opportunity at Avangrid Renewables (formerly Iberdrola Renewables) in October 2012, stepping into the role of Data Warehouse Specialist. My primary objective was to gather comprehensive data on our wind turbine and solar panel components stored within our warehouses, aiming to diversify our vendor sources beyond the manufacturers themselves, thereby driving significant cost savings for the company.

For several months, I traversed the country, climbing around warehouses and wind turbine sites across the nation, meticulously gathering the requisite images and data to build a comprehensive dataset meeting rigorous standards and personal satisfaction. Upon successfully achieving this milestone, I was offered a full-time position as Data Warehouse Manager. In this capacity, I assumed responsibility for not only managing the meticulously curated data, ensuring its accuracy across multiple databases, but also for its expansion and integration.

To accomplish this, I spearheaded the creation, execution, and management of several cross-departmental processes. These included the development of a New Item Request process and the implementation of the SAP Framework Agreement process. The New Item Request process facilitated the identification and incorporation of previously unprocured components into our local and global databases, as well as the enhancement of existing data and the resolution of duplicate entries. Newly identified components triggered a series of actions, including photographic documentation upon arrival, sourcing optimization by our Sourcing department, and inclusion in appropriate SAP Framework Agreements for future acquisitions, with meticulous inventory management oversight by our Materials Management team.

My leadership in the SAP Framework Agreement process ensured the integrity of material data across our various agreements, streamlining fleet-wide procurement processes. Any discrepancies in this critical information during agreement execution caused significant disruption and avoidable financial losses, underscoring the importance of my oversight.

In terms of data integration, I collaborated closely with our headquarters in Spain to seamlessly integrate this dataset into our Global SAP Item Master, co-managing its maintenance thereafter. This dataset represented a unique asset within our company and the industry at large. Its integration into our global SAP system empowered our international counterparts to diversify component sourcing, amplifying cost savings across the organization.

Finally, I led the development and upkeep of a user-friendly Parts Catalog on our Microsoft SharePoint server. Recognizing the challenges posed by SAP's interface, especially for frontline technicians and site managers, the Parts Catalog served as an intuitive and efficient tool for parts identification and retrieval, earning commendation from end users.

Of all achievements, I take particular pride in the development of the Parts Catalog, exemplifying my commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and user experience within our organization

πŸ‘‹πŸ½ Reason for Leaving

I had mastered the skills required for this job, at which time the job had become routine. I also had two very young kids at home and the traffic in and out of Portland becoming untenable. In short, I needed a new challenge closer to home.
